This place is ridiculous. We called ahead and were told our name was on the list and to arrive in an hour. After arriving, we were told that we would have to wait an hour to an hour and a half because their call ahead was meaningless. Hostess words. The food is only okay, it's Granite City, but the wait staff and hostess couldn't care less. There's no point to go here. Also a wonderful thing is that they'll tell you thirty minutes, and thirty minutes when you come back to ask how much longer it'll be another 25 minutes. They just don't care about customers at all.

Although we came in a bit late we had a lovely seating outside at the water. The food was very tasteful, the beers were great. We went back on the next day for another great meal.

Granite city brewery was a rather let down other than the beer itself. The meals where meh! My party had 2 under cooked steaks and the rest of us and cold meatloaf with mashed potatoes. For me the meatloaf was huge, but so loaded with onion strings which basically salted and flavored up the whole dinner in general! I'd stop on in here for a beer and such, particularly the oatmeal stout which you can pick up a big mug for $4.00 and the taste was great. Granite city definitely has to step up there game when it comes to food!

Had the most amazing burger, bedda Chedda Bacon Burger on a pretzel roll. Check out my picture of it, big thick cut bacon and a mound of cheddar cheese. Now the only reason they only got 4 stars is because of the wings, hey were under cooked which made them chewy. I think they were baked , so there were was almost no crisp to them. The Asian Glaze sauce was really good though.

The service at granite city is excellent. If you are in the mood for a good microbrew, this is the place. My favorites are the duke, a pale ale, and the batch 1000, a double IPA. If you are a fan of spicy food and like seafood, try the shrimp tacos, they are delicious!!!! The bleu peppercorn burger is also my favorite and the perfect temp for this burger is Med-rare to medium. You have to have the granite city dip when you have the option for a side and order waffle fries. Go to the bar if you are on a wait and order yourself a beer. They only carry their brews on tap, and domestic beers on bottle (Coors light, bud light, miller lite, and Budweiser) If you like light beer, try the northern light.

Food and beer, pretty good. Service not so much. After waiting at least 20 minutes for our order and not so much as a glance from our server, my husband's pizza was served STONE COLD. How do you even let that out of the kitchen? Finally found someone (not our server) to reorder. Took FOREVER. at least 20 minutes. For a flatbread pizza that takes 10 minutes tops in the broiler. The manager was apologetic and comped the pizza. Hope she comped this chick's tip too. She obviously wants us the heck out of here, gave us the check with the second pizza and didn't bother to clear the table. Good thing we don't live here, I expect better from the local brewpub.

First time visitors to GCB and we'll definitely be back. Kristen our waitress was great! Brought hubs a couple of samples and shared some ideas for us to try. The burgers were awesome!! We didn't have to ask for anything as Kristen anticipated with being smothering. Oh, and the patio was very comfy!!

I swear at first I thought it was a kitchen store. Turned out to be restaurant/brewery. Not a big fan of the combo but my coworker was. He won on the dinner decision while we were in Sioux Falls. I had a good meal of salmon and rice, and fell in love with the French Onion Soup. Usually this soup is so damn salty. Theirs was just yummy, even sodium level, and super cheesy. I liked it so much we came back for lunch the next day. Though service was a little slow with some annoying servers, I had two good meals here. So, this time fast forward a couple months later, I decided to come back for the French Onion Soup. They had a lunch special for their adult mac and cheese or Fettuccine Alfredo with salad that sounded good. However, I was partial to the sandwich and soup/salad combo as it's a good deal. When the server came, I asked if I should get the mac and cheese or the half prime rib sandwich. She said the mac and cheese is amazing. I said ok. Sold. I asked for soup instead of salad and she said no can do. Why the hell not? She just said not for the special so she suggested I get the sandwich now instead. Just get the less amazing thing if you wanted the soup so gawddamn much that's what she was saying. Annoyed, but I went with it. I thought mac n cheese would make me sleepy anyway. The prime rib sandwich luckily turned out to be good. The soup however turned out to be the typical salty French Onion. Not sure which time was the fluke. The soda I ordered came with crushed ice and it looked so cold and good. I actually really enjoyed drinking it. It was an ok place. Service is so so. Foods also I guess depend on the day. But it's ok. I'd eat here again.

First of all, there is great beer brewed on site. That really set the stage for a great dining experience and it seems that it's the only place in Sioux Falls that does this. I had the Double IPA and my wife had the Belgian Golden Strong Ale and we both really enjoyed them. My wife and I sat at the bar and were personally greeted by each bartender by introducing themselves and asking for our names. This is something you don't get everywhere and was a nice change from the "I'm too busy to greet you well" bartenders that you get at other places. The manager also stopped by 2-3 times to see how we were doing and to welcome us on our first visit. We ordered the Idaho nachos (waffle fries instead of chips) to start out. It was a ton of food and was really good with a lot of cheese, bacon, and chivey goodness. After that starter, we couldn't see ourselves eating a full entree each so we ordered the blackjack burger to split, which was very good. The onions and roasted jalapenos were perfect. I'm definitely looking forward to trying other items on the menu. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for with a friendly bar area, great beer, and excellent food. We liked it so much that we signed up for the Mug Club on our first visit, although if you look at the cost of the Mug Club and the savings, everyone that drinks beer should sign up for it.

I lke the mug club membership. The sirloin with garlic butter is good. mashed potatos real good. Like their "Northern" beer!!

Stopped here with my husband on a Friday night. It was our first time eating at this Granite City. Our food and drinks were good. I had a watermelon martini which was very good if you like sweet drinks (which I do). My husband got a perfect margarita which he said was good. We got an appetizer of Idaho potatoes which was a lot of food and very good. I had the bacon, avocado, and tomato grilled cheese and my husband had the BBQ Chicken flat bread both were great. Our only problem was that we ordered too much food. Service was good. We will definitely be returning here.

Had an awesome time! Service was great and our server Lincoln was the best! Thanks for everything!

Service was about as bad as it gets -- our initial drink order forgotten (twice), a server who couldn't recommend anything on the menu because she doesn't eat there, my second beer arriving well after I had finished my meal (and about a half-hour after I ordered it). For a place that bills itself as a "brewery," they don't seem to be trying too hard. The beer I wanted had been unavailable for several days, despite still being on the menu. The server seemed confused when I asked to try a sample of a different beer. When I finally settled on a choice, it was very average. There are not many places to go for beer in Sioux Falls, but I'd still skip this one next time I'm in town.

We went on a Saturday night. There was a 30 minute wait which is usual for this area. The waiting area wasn't big enough for the crowd so we stood by the bar. Once seated, the waiter was awesome and gave great advice about menu items. I asked about the Walleye and he responded "I don't recommend Walley...like from a store." Love that honesty. We ended up going with the Idaho Nachos, Cajun Pasta, and Pepper Bacon Flatbread Pizza. All were delicious and we left satisfied.

Stopped here with my family on our way to the airport to fly home to California. This was the first place I ate at in South Dakota where I felt like I was at home. The food is full of flavor (unlike many restaurants I experienced in the midwest....), the portions are huge, and I know I will be eating here again when I return to Sioux Falls. The service was great and the pricing was right. It was busy when we were there; it seems like a popular place, and for good reason! I was with a party of 6 (4 adults, 2 kiddos) and we all enjoyed it very much and continued discussing how good our lunch was throughout the flight home. Note: If you're looking for a -quiet- place, this isn't it. It's a brewery, they tend to be a bit on the noisier side.

I had dinner here while visiting from out of town and I stopped in because I found online that they have a gluten-free menu. I have other food allergies as well and I have a hard time finding restaurants that can accommodate both gluten-free and other issues. The staff at Granite City went above and beyond to ensure that my food was prepared safely, and when the kitchen noticed that one of my allergens was accidentally added and contaminated the whole plate, they re-cooked the whole table's food before bringing it out so that we could all enjoy a hot meal at the same time. Sure that took a little longer for us to receive our meals, but when we did eat, it was delicious and safe. I highly recommend this restaurant for individuals with food sensitivities!

GET THE MARGHERITA FLATBREAD. Sorry for yelling but it is SO GOOD!!! I wish I had gotten that as my meal instead of sharing with the table for our appetizer. DON'T GET the Bruschetta Salad. My mom had gotten that at another Granite City and recommended it. We both ended up ordering it here. We both asked for the dressing on the side and I asked for no olives, which they delivered, but on my salad they managed to forget the chicken. Hmmmm kind of a pivotal thing to forget. We're eating our salad with our dressing on the side and all the dressing tastes like is oil. It's supposed to be a balsamic. They end up bringing us a bottle of balsamic to add to our dressing and it helped but it wasn't great. I would just recommend skipping that meal altogether. Other than that our experience was good.

LOVE THE Sunday BRUNCH! Hash browns are the best! Prime rib pretty good. But every time, and I mean every time I'm there, (maybe a dozen times),there is never cups by the au jus. Kinda annoying. Prime is at the end, they are first person to ask, then back in line to get little au jus. Might sound pretty, but for a $16 dollar plate think it's not asking too much.

Their food used to be fantastic but lately it seems that it's gone down hill. The last time I had Granite City it was a to go order and most of the time when I call in to go orders they're still quite warm when I get to my destination. By the time I got my Idaho nachos back to the office at work, they were ice cold and tasted like they had never even been in the fryer! Next time I call in a to go order I'm going to be quite specific that their fries were cold and I was very disappointed. Maybe if they did something about the food quality I would rate it higher than two stars. The only saving grace from me rating it one star it the ale and cheddar soup.

Decided to take my family out to dinner last night. I learned my lesson about ordering BBQ ribs from a place that is not a BBQ restaurant. When first delivered to the table the ribs were not even up to room temperature and the french fries where just warm. After letting the server know my food was taken back to the kitchen. When retuned to me the ribs where still far from hot ,but, being the rest of my family was almost done eating I decided to eat them as is. The first bite revealed the unappetizing flavor of being in the refrigerator to long along with a very pronounced burned taste from the refire. My appetite now dead and not having time to wait for another order we left. I have to say the server was excellent and did her very best to correct the issue and so did the manager but, in this case, there was not much that could be done to save my order beyond ordering something else. At the price that is charged for this meal ($17.99 for a half rack) I expected much better quality than I got. If you are going to charge what a BBQ restaurant charges at least try to deliver comparable quality. Don't try to reheat something that has been in the refrigerator for a week and pass it off as fresh hoping the sauce will hide the stale been in the fridge a week flavor.

I used to dine and drink at the Granite City location in the St. Louis area frequently and hit this one whenever I'm in Sioux Falls. Last night I had some great happy hour deals. 20 oz Bock and a 20 oz Two Pull, 3 bucks each. The small plate Asian glazed ribs $5.95 and DEE-licious! Slightly spicy. I could see really pounding down the brews if I had much more than the small plate. Tasty! Dinner salad $2.95. Fresh and I love the homemade croutons. And the bock & cheese flatbread $7.00. Total after tax and before tip was $23.43. And I had 1/2 the flatbread left for breakfast. My receipt says my server was Makal, and I overheard him introduce himself as Mak. He did a great job. He was attentive without being overbearing, and multi-tasked like a pro. I'm trying to decide whether to go back tomorrow morning for their brunch, which in St. Louis was always a delicious assortment of food. On my visit I also enjoyed the fact that the host walked around and made sure everyone was happy. That's a nice touch. Always a great experience at Granite City. I wish they had one in the Phoenix area.

This place is great. Sometimes the servers aren't as good. Brunch is fantastic! Prime rib...yum! Good place for a date night, or dinner with the family. Spinach artichoke dip is a great addition to your meal, or in addition to good beer.

Granite City used to be a 5. The last couple years it has been terrible the two times I went. They changed how they make things on their menu and it's not for the better! It used to be my favorite!

My first visit to Granite City was this weekend. I was one in a group of 8 + kid. They took a fair moment to pull tables together for us, but that was truly the only hitch in the program. Josie, our server, was fantastic. Attentive, not overbearing, polite, made eye contact. The food was great - everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I ordered a side salad ($3) which was a much bigger, robust salad than at most restaurants; I split an appetizer with my husband; and we each ordered an entree. I was so full from the salad & app that my whole dinner plate came home with me. With two non-alcoholic drinks between us, the bill came to $50. A little pricier than some places, but considering we each walked out with leftovers, not bad. The menu had so many good sounding things on it I had trouble deciding. I'd go back tonight if i could.

Fantastic! Finally got a chance to try this place out. Great beer selections, I really loved the seasonal Belgium Strong Golden Ale, my husband liked the double IPA. They offer a flight of all 8 beers for $4.95, I'm sure we'll check that out next time! Food was great! We got the Idaho nachos for an appetizer with the ranch/sour cream dip on the side. They tasted great and there was definitely a large portion size provided. Quite tasty! :) Because the appetizer was such a big portion, my husband and I ended up sharing the Blackjack burger. A+ rating, for sure! We both loved the flavor combination, especially the roasted jalepenos. We got extra siracha mayo on the side, which was WELL worth it! One of the best burgers I've had here in Sioux Falls! My husband and I both ended up joining the mug club here. $10 for a lifetime membership, includes one free beer when you first join, 10% off all food for the lifetime of your membership, $5 beers (instead of $7), points per dollar spent toward free gifts, and free gifts for your birthday. Um...Yeah! This was definitely a no-brainer! Bartenders tonight were Jill and Brent. Both were great and extremely attentive. We will, without a doubt, be regulars here. Great food. Great beer. Will definitely recommend to others and will definitely bring out of town guests here for a meal.

My group had IPA Cobb salad, and Bedda Chedda bacon burger. Salad was great, burger was slightly overdone. This is why I dropped to four stars. Four and half if that was available. Service was also excellent. We sat out on the patio which was very nice. Lastly, the Bene Bock beer had good flavor, and nice after taste.

We had a great experience here. Our server Austin was very knowledgeable about the different brews. We tried the beer tester platter and he even added in an extra beer he thought we would like (we did!) The flatbread was Spectacular!!!! Free WiFi helped with road trip planning, no complaints at all!

Traveling across the country from Maryland to California by way of wanting to see Mt. Rushmore and stopped to eat in Sioux Falls. Based on recommendations from my AAA app, we stopped to eat at Granite City. Can't say enough great things about it. Food outstanding (ribs and chicken with spinach dip sandwich ordered at our table), beer was great (stout ordered), service was incredible (shout out to Alex for making the experience so wonderful...thanks for the cookies for the road).

Ate at granite city on Sunday for lunch. Had the bedda chedda burger. Wow! Great burger and huge. My wife had the flatbread which was fabulous. Overall service was mediocre

  • Leah L.

Not that great. We decided to try this place out because it's one of the only micro-brew pubs in Sioux Falls. Their beer was very disappointing. The American Wheat beer was completely flat. Their was no carbonation to it at all. Their other beers had some off flavors and did not impress me. I had the sampler platter, which came with 7 beers, two of which were seasonal. The food was alright, but nothing special. I think the prices were a bit high considering the quality of the food. The service was pretty good. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Our order did get confused a bit but they fixed it. Also my husbands beer had some 'floaties' in it when it came to the table, but he asked for a new one and the promptly brought it over.

Overall: Average in every way. I'd not spend my own $ here... I did not and was glad. Food: 5/10, had the walleye dinner and sub'd mixed veggies for the std mashed and coleslaw. Veggies had decent flavor, but way to small portion, way to oily, and way over cooked. Fish was decent portion but had no flavor. I had to add salt & pepper. Service: 6/10, decent, nothing special. Decor: 4/10, on the lower-end of places in this category. Not dirty or anything but really 'basic'.

  • Lori R.

Definitely one of our favorite go-to's in Sioux Falls. There's always something here that everyone likes! Had a few issues with service the last time we went (December 2011), but for the most part, it is consistently one of the best places to dine in Sioux Falls, imho.

    (4)
  • Joyce J.

I love Granite City. I was here in 2006 and I can still remember their waffle fries. =D I also had the beer sampler which I remember to be decent.

  • Tamara N.

Excellent customer service and had the perfect comfort food. Soup: Cheddar Ale, then Chicken Caesar salad (huge 3 of us split it and I still took some home!!) and Prime Rib Sandwich. Wanted to get dessert, but was too stuffed for even $3 mini desserts. Warning: at 4 on a Saturday there was no wait when we left at 6 there was a very long wait.

After attending once a month for 3 years with great service the place fell off the earth. Pizza had super dry chicken. Bar tenders would not give you the time a day. Yelled to get there attention to pay the bill. Manager quit and it looks like the new guy is trying but good luck.

We were traveling across the country from Seattle and needed a place to eat in Sioux Falls. Unfortunately it was nearly 11pm and most everything was closed, so we called Granite City and the manager said they would keep the kitchen open for us. A very kind gesture. Furthermore, we were greeted with excellent service by a server Shane, who treated us very well even though we got in so late and were paying for happy hour food. The food was fantastic and we were very grateful for the experience. Highly recommended!

  • Angela M.

I've gone to the Granite City in St. Cloud, MN before and enjoyed their little sampler brew shot platter and they do have good loaded waffle fries. We went here on our last day in the area because nothing else was really open so got an average lunch selection, I felt it was a bit pricey for the area and for what we got but at least with a chain its predictable.

Great place to meet friends and family. Good beer and food!

  • Ashley G.

Such a busy restaurant! They are always swamped, when you're standing waiting for a table, sitting at table waiting for your waiter to come, waiting for your drinks or good to come, all the while your stomach is eating itself. Don't venture here on weekend nights when you're starving. On the flip side their food is always something to look forward to. The steaks (London Broil) are tasty, Burgers are thick and juicy, their pastas are lacking a little (Not great by any means watery and kind of spicy... just 'not right') By far though The best are their Quesadillas! Spendy, but great for a first date spot!

  • Alan W.

Great restaurant, just tried their new menu, the Ribs were ok, they took off the Korean tacos. The service was very good as always. Had an issue with a new server and she brought out all 3 courses at one time, the manager on Saturday immediately came over and addressed the problem, he took the 1st course of the tab, very cool although I stated it was not necessary. First class management.

  • Jen F.

Granite was pretty good. The prices are right, service is excellent, great beer selection, specials... I'd definitely come here again. My appetizers were better than the meal. I'd recommend the BBQ boneless wings. I would not recommend the Asian chicken salad. It was more like Asian cole slaw...

  • Amanda B.

I'll give GC 4 stars because I love a good deal. We went there on Sunday for lunch and they have 1/2 off pizzas, $5 wings and $5 burger and fries. We fed our family of 5 for $16 dollars. The food wasn't fabulous. If it was full price it wouldn't be worth it. I'm sure the waiter was ticked that we only ordered the specials, but hey..I tipped him 40% so hopefully that shut up his whinning:) I want to try their beers. My husband said their stout is amazing. That's it's better than than Guiness.

  • Patrick L.

My favorite lunch spot. Hands down. Always great food and the best microbrews in town.

    (5)
  • Dan M.

GC is always a bit of a mixed bag. They usually do some things right and some things wrong each visit. Staff: some are good, some are bad. Not sure why there is always 4 people standing around the hostess stand? Food: slightly upscale bar food. Beer: if their beer is so good, why do so many people order mixed beers like the two pull or the admiral? And what is with the over the top sales pressure on the mug club? How many times do we gotta say no thank you? Overall: don't get too fancy with your order. They are better at the basics. And don't even try to go on a weekend. Their mall-zone location keeps them jammed.

My husband and I have now gone twice while revisiting Sioux Falls and both times he has gotten food poisoning. We thought it was a fluke the first time, but needless to say that going through the same problem twice means we will never return. Ryan had the Better Chedder Burger and I had the Salmon Caesar Salad. Even after having the Salmon Salad I felt sick. They put WAY too much dressing on it. I realize this is the Midwest and people LOVE their salad dressing, but it is supposed to be lightly coated, not drenched in WARM caesar dressing. BLEH! Never again!

Every time I've gone to Granite City, there has been something that has really bugged me. The first time we went, my wife and I were meeting some friends after their meal, and so ended up at the bar. I don't know about all y'all, but I generally like to know how much something is going to cost me before I order, not after. Seriously, how hard is it to just toss some prices onto your beer menu? I'm a relatively cheap person, so most of the time, if I don't know how much something is going to cost me, I won't take the chance. The second time, we went with a group of friends after a hockey game. They had a deal going that for every goal the Stampede (the local hockey team) scored, you could get 10% any food items that same night with your tickets. They scored 5 goals, so with 50% off coupons, we decided to have some drinks and appetizers. Expaining the specifics of what transpired would be pretty dull, so lets just say that they didn't honor the deal fully and our bill ended up being a lot more than we expected. And that was after we confirmed the deal with our waitress before ordering. The third time we went to the resaraunt for a full meal. The food was good, but nothing special (almost everyone in our group of five felt about the same.) However, the prices were a bit high in my opinion. Not obscene, but higher than they should be for the level of food we received. Some other, overall observations: The atmosphere is definitely not my thing. It has a very "corporate" feel to it and the decor is rather uninspired. The overall service has been hit and miss. Once, not so good, the other above average. The one thing that it does have going for it is that it's a microbrewery, and it's the only microbrewery/resaurant in Sioux Falls that I know of. Please if I'm wrong, someone let me know. While I would never count their beers among my favorites, it's obviously a step above your standard (boring) beer options. I guess my final assessment is that I would go back to Granite City for a beer, but choose someplace else if I wanted to order any food.

  • Chris H.

Meh. I dont know. There really isn't anything special about this place. It is your average, run of the mill corporately run brewpub. The food isn't anything spectacular but its not horrible, comprable to red robin, but they dont even quite make that level. Atleast their service isn't too bad, they took care of me and my girlfriend quickly and efficiently. Nothing really stuck out in my mind about this place as being over the top or having any great quality to keep people coming back, but hey Ill try it again

We've been here several times over the last 8 months and while the food is usually quite good, the service is uneven at best; mostly not very good. The front door greeters are at times distracted and not very personable. Once we were placed at a booth and then we moved to the bar when after 10 minutes, no one showed to take our orders. The waiters are not very attentive and while they take your order, check on you, and deliver the check, they do not deliver anything you order. Someone else always delivers the drinks, appetizers, and meals and of course you then get the "who ordered the ____" question (which I find awful). Yesterday our beer was flat and delivered by a guy with other drinks in his hands so ours was slopped onto our table. Fries were cold and when hot ones were finally delivered, they obviously had been other fries that had gotten cold and then put back into the fryer. We observed two other tables nearby that waited over 10 minutes after seating before a waiter showed up to take their order.

Don' be goin' and takin' me for GRANITE! Douglas K. here with a fresh review! I just ate at Granite City Food & Brewery in Sioux Falls (SD) last night with a coupla friends. My girlfriend was, sadly, 2000 miles away in California (USA). Granite City serves the best food until the latest at night in Sioux Falls. Lemme say that one more time: they serve the best, latest, food. The best food that is also the latest. If there is a wave of "best food" washing up on the shore of Sioux Falls (SD), Granite City is the last receding portion of the wave as it returns to sea: the LATEST. After Granite City closes you're left with no food options that won't make you question the entire food delivery system in our country. Granite has great salads, big portions of comfort food like meatloaf, and good, huge burgers. Never had their beers but go for it. I'm sick in bed and I just may yelp the whole world. Well, I'd better head out! Douglas K.

Granite City is a nice place that has high quality food and an attentive wait staff. My favorite is the french onion soup. The sandwiches are good, but not great.

For predictable corporate food, this place ain't bad. The beers are really this place's saving grace, with a respectable IPA on tap that I haven't had any reason to wonder beyond. For food, I've generally gone with the flatbreads and the buffalo burger. The burgers are a little risky, though, with the end product be considerably and unpredictably over/under-done. And, of course, smoking is permitted inside, which is a strike in my mind.

By far the worst service out of all the granite citys I have been to.(I've been to the ones in Lincoln, Ne, Cedar Rapids, IA, Roseville, Mn, Fargo Nd to name a few) Waited over 5 minutes to get seated and it wasn't even busy. Food took awhile, food was good, however I couldn't finish my food because I ran out of pop and no one offered a refill! Then some waitress came to my table who wasn't even my waitress and asked if I needed a refill. I stated, "I was about to look for a pop machine". She just laughed and said Josh the bartender got busy. It wasn't busy. Manager brought my food (wings with no napkins!) Too bad for them because I'm a big tipper. One star for the cook! I love granite city but this location is a joke. Manager is incompetent and Josh can't do his job. And whoever that waitress was.....

Since moving to Sioux Falls last month, this has become our favorite restaurant. Tried Spezia's and Foley's and Granite City is better than them. The Flying Monkey cocktail is the best. Everyone is friendly and accommodating.
